What information do we collect from our customers?
When you order samples, place an order, or sign up for our newsletter, we will collect your personal information (name, address, email address and phone number. We do not store payment information). You may call us at 1-800-655-1080 and ask to opt-out of this if you do not want us to keep your information.
Why do we collect this information?
We collect your address to ensure that you receive your samples and products in a time-efficient manner. We must also obtain your phone number so that we may contact you with order or delivery issues. When you sign up for our newsletter, we will use your email address to provide you with the newsletter and coupons.
Why do you require an email address?
Unless otherwise requested, we communicate with our customers mainly via email once an order is placed. This is the best way for us to send you tracking information and order status updates. We understand that our clients are busy, and that email is a simple way to communicate with them. If you do not want to receive future emails from us, you may opt-out of any of our mailings by hitting the “opt-out” link on the bottom of each correspondence.
How is your information protected?
Your payment information is never stored in our systems, nor on our server. Our server and databases are protected with industry-leading firewalls, virus software, and encryption technology. Your safety is our top priority.
Do we disclose your information to outside parties?
Your personal information will never be sold, traded, or transferred to any third-party (minus our manufacturers and shipping partners). Customer information may also be released when necessary to comply with the law, to enforce our website’s policies, or to product our property, rights, and safety.

Our products are custom made for each customer, therefore making them non-returnable for resale. Prior to placing your order, please ensure that you have the following information correct and handy:
When you receive your package, please inspect all shades/blinds and included parts and hardware for operational issues, and for missing parts. If one of our manufacturers mistakenly left out a piece or part, please call or email us to let us know! We are not responsible for installation fees, trip fees, time spent, etc.

First Rate Blinds is proud to offer dozens – or even hundreds – of color and fabric selections. We know that this can be exciting, but also overwhelming. Because of this, we are happy to send you product samples of the fabric(s) that you are considering! This is important because computer monitors can distort true colors and not give a true representation of our beautiful fabrics. Our natural wood products (including woven wood) can change from lot to lot, or just over time, so we encourage completing entire rooms in the same order. You may request samples directly from any product page.
Occasionally, our products do get back ordered (hey, there are a lot of people with great taste out there!) We will try to inform you right away, and you can choose to change your order or wait until the material is available again. If you choose not to change or order and cannot wait, we will refund your purchase.
First Rate Blinds is not responsible for orders that are placed incorrectly by the customer (color, material choice, sizing), or for mistakes in installation. Please call us and we will replace your blinds below our cost.
Once your order is placed, you will receive an email with your order details. Please review each specification of your order to ensure that it is correct. If you see any errors contact us immediately. You have 24 hours from the time that your order is placed to request changes. At this point, we will provide your order to the manufacturer for immediate production. Please ensure that the sizes and colors ordered are correct.
If you are using woven wood blinds to outfit an entire room, we recommend that you order all of the blinds at the same time! Since the woven wood blinds are made from real, natural wood the colors and hues will change over time. First Rate Blinds is not responsible for variations in woven wood blinds that are ordered in different orders.
For any shades that roll up (including roller shades, sheers, sunscreens), the fabric is always narrower than its roller, which allows room for the shade’s mechanisms. This gap is usually around 1 ½” total difference between the roller and the fabric. When you order an inside mounted roller shade, there is no way to avoid this gap. With an outside mount, you may choose a certain width for the fabric itself. To do this, add 1 ½” to the width you would like for the fabric (if you want a 30” width piece of fabric, order 31 ½”). When you place an order, we use these measurements to include the headrail, not just the size of the fabric. Please call us with any questions.
Our customers are creative individuals, and often see unique ways to use our products! This is fine, but this will void our warranties. Examples include using our shutters or woven wood blinds on the exterior of a building, using shades as screens for projector televisions, or utilizing our products as substitutes for doors.
