How To Measure

Here at First Rate Blinds, we aim to make the entire process of updating your window coverings simple – from measuring, to ordering, and installing!
When you are ready to start shopping for your new blinds or shades, the first thing you need to do is get accurate measurements.
Fortunately, it is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3!

  1. Grab a steel measuring tape and measure the width of each window’s opening* to the nearest 1/8” (if you happen to get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment for width, round DOWN to the nearest 1/8”).
  2. When measuring for the height, use the steel measuring tape and measure top to bottom to the nearest 1/8| (if you happen to get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment for height, round UP to the nearest 1/8”).
  3. If you are measuring multiple windows, it is imperative that you repeat the above steps for each window. Even if they look identical, chances are they will have slight variations (trust us, we see this every day!)
After you collect your measurements, you can order your new shades on this website or by calling us at 1-800-655-1080.

*Measure the opening of the window for “inside mount” shades. Measure outside of the frame where you plan to hang the brackets for “outside mount”.
